So, more info here, for the elucidation of everyone who never had the pleasure of seeing the man perform. Because he was completely and totally AWESOME.

Damn you!

I've gotten comfortable calling ginmar The Rabid Emu, and now I'm going to feel guilty about it every time she comes up in conversation, because there was a rabid emu long before her, and it was much cooler than her. And it's all your fault!

Sowwy...

That being said, I really wish I'd thought of this sooner, while the wank was still going on. Because it would have been funnier.

I remember this guy! That bird used to turn on him and attack him, and it was hysterical.

You brought back a lot of memories with that great icon.

Thanks! I was really upset when I found out that he'd died, because I *loved* him as a kid.

Local television personality, I presume.

Local? Try international. I remember him from when I was a kid, watching him on several different TV shows. There was a kid's variety show called "The Hudson Brothers" that he was a regular on, back in the day. He'd start talking about emu habits and stuff, and eventually the bird would attack him and take him down to the ground. I wanted to find some video online of it, but I couldn't, unfortunately.

The man was hysterical; if you never got to see him, you really missed out.

I remember the Hudson Brothers, but I don't believe I ever watched their show. Way things are, it's probably now available on DVD - check eBay.

Alas, Rod Hull wasn't in it.

It truly was...and it was funny EVERY TIME you saw it, even though you knew what was coming.

I'm sorry to just drop in like this months later but--I was using the LJSeek feature and stumbled over this message and your fabulous icon. I used to love the Hudson Brother's Show (hey, I was six!) and Rod Hull (and his Extraordinary Australian Emu) was one of my favourites.
