The Hubby and Da Boy are off to the wilds of Colorado. Until Saturday.

Oh my God, I have the house to myself for two blessed days.

*promptly falls asleep*

Huh, what?

Okay, yes, I will most certainly take this opportunity to write. Poke me, once in awhile, and make sure I'm not wasting my time playing Text Twist or other stupid stuff.

Erm. I suppose I should, you know...get dressed first. And caffeine. Caffeine is good.

Also, I just remembered that I wrote something down, two days ago, on the pad in my headboard. Maybe I should grab it and look at it. Might be important.

NO. I am NOT going to make an Iron Man iron-on for a t-shirt. My sick sick obsession can stop any time now. (This is not what I wrote down; it's something I just remembered noodling around in an insomnia-induced haze earlier this morning.)

GAH.

EDIT: I just found an Iron Man/Doctor Who crossover that's made of shiny. Go forth and read.

The Supreme Court got one right!

I'm seeing via my flist (which is how I'm getting most of my news these days, and just how nerdy is that?) that the Supreme Court has upheld a lower court's ruling that the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms is, indeed, an individual right.

Not only that, but Justice Scalia puts in some lovely word-geekery in his opinion:

The Amendment’s prefatory clause announces a purpose, but does not limit or expand the scope of the second part, the operative clause. The operative clause’s text and history demonstrate that it connotes an individual right to keep and bear arms.

Yay! Now that's an excellent way to start my day.

I have, however, noodled around with this picture enough that I feel like it's shiny enough to stick on my own private t-shirt.

The problem with the "official" Iron Man tees is that they all feature, well, Iron Man, rather than Tony Stark. And I want Tony. Which probably makes me strange and somewhat shallow, but the image of him in that shirt doing that thing with his arm just slays me, so there you have it.

However. It hasn't been completely unproductive for me, writing-wise. I've been actively thinking about the story and where it needs to go. I have an ending in mind, which is always a plus--and which, I'm finding, is becoming more common for me. I'm generally a seat-of-my-pants writer who has no idea how I'm going to end something until I'm thisclose to done, but the last few stories I've had endgames in mind (maybe not right from the beginning, never that) pretty close to when I start the story.

*evil laughter* My poor hero.

Anyway. I've also figured out what kind of story this is: It's a Quest. Now I need to figure out what the elements of that Quest are, how long it will take him, and whether or not he gets a sidekick. Also, who the sidekick is and what happens to that person once the Quest is over and done with.

And I think I just got my next scene. HAH.

In keeping with my current unhealthy Iron Man obsession, I bring you icons.

There's only seven, so I'm not cuttin' it.

And, keeping myself honest here, I did 360+ words on the Cow & the Beanstalk fic. So far. For some inexplicable reason, my characters are slipping into Britishisms. I have no idea why. Which, I guess, is what "inexplicable" means.

I need more caffeine. Clearly.
