Well, I've added 405 words and introduced a new character into the BearFic. She's a reporter, and they'll have a jolly time skating around her. Hopefully I can slide her in without too much trouble.

Of course, the problem is that this story was around 5300 words, and now it's around 5700, and I'm not sure it can be trimmed anymore. AND I'm going to have to keep adding to it, because I've got a whole new character. SO, I'm reducing the markets I can sub it to by virtue of word count alone. Seeing as I already write pretty sparely and people are always complaining that I don't describe enough, I'm pretty sure that trimming much of anything more is out of the question.

ARGH. It'll be interesting to see what this tops out at. I really don't need another 10K-word monster, although the last one sold to the first market I subbed it to...

Note to self: Have the crew drop her off before they drop the bear off, yes?

As we do. And we're reading a book called "Secrets and Surprises." I have Da Boy read through these stories first, and then I read them back to him.

He finished his part of this story, wherein a set of twins get a box of candy from their Grandma, and the girl determines that she's going to make hers last two weeks. Initially, the boy wants to do the same, but he succumbs to greed and eats all of his share. The line there is:

He did not stop until he had eaten all the candy!

And after I read that line, Da Boy said, and I quote:

"Dun dun duuunnnn!"

Hee!

tomorrow, to Arlington, TX, for an early Christmas with the family. I have no idea if I'll be able to keep up with the flist; internet access is usually spotty on these trips.

Since I've added a reporter to my story, I have to decide several things. What's her agenda? What story is she working on? How much are they going to tell her, and how much are they trying to hide? After all, as far as they know at the start, all they're doing is taking perfectly legal cargo to a monastery. It's not until later that they find out that, erm, they're in Trouble.

I'll be able to work on it on the plane. That's a good. I usually get some good stuff done on planes (the ReaverFic being an excellent example of that). Hopefully my laptop battery won't croak on me, although it's been pretty weak lately. Might be time for a new one.

These rambly little posts where I'm deciding what to do are actually my method of brainstorming when there's no Hubby around to bounce ideas off of. It's harder to bounce original fic than fanfic off on another person, because there's not that whole "shared world" thing going on.
