there's a lunar eclipse tonight, right? As in, right now, this very moment?

*is taking pix*

This is SO something you don't get to see every day...

We're in Kalispell.

Saturday, July 28
Flight from Seattle to Kalispell, MT. We went past Mt. Ranier and over Mt. St. Helens on the way, which was fascinating. More than twenty years after St Helens erupted, and you can still see the damage it did. Got some pretty fabulous shots, too.

Ate a spectacular dinner at DG Barley's Brewhouse and Grill. Hubby said it was the best dinner he's had the entire trip, and I tend to agree. He had the lasagne, and I had the Oscar Steak, which was steak with teeny little shrimp, asparagus, and bearnaise sauce. DAMN tasty. Also a mocha milkshake...thing. And Hubby had a strawberry cheesecake for dessert that he said was divine. We may have to eat there again.

Sunday, July 29
Glacier National Park. OMG animals! We saw a couple of deer, a bald eagle, some sort of chipmunk thing, a bunch of mountain goats (first time ever in the wild!) and a whole crapload of Columbine ground squirrels, along with scads of butterflies, a beautiful black and white day-flying moth (which I've since discovered is called a Police Car Moth, and how cool is that?), and a BEAR! The scenery was spectacular, with mountains and flowers and glaciers and bluer than blue lakes. And we got to hear the squirrels barking! If you ever get the chance to visit this place, you totally should. We took a boat tour on St. Mary lake and walked up to a pretty little waterfall. And the sunset was wonderful as well. Ate at Eddie's near the entrance in the park, and that was really good too.

Seriously, we got within six or eight feet of the goats and squirrels. It was awesome.

Pix will be divided between this post and the next. Click the cut for mammals and scenery! )
