FANFIC AUTHORS' APPRECIATION WEEK

March 6 through March 13

Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.

Day Three
Yeah, okay, it's actually Day Four, but I didn't get a chance to do my second post yesterday, so, argh. I'll sincerely attempt to do two today.

Anyway, now that that's out of the way, I think I'm going to go in a slightly different direction than most of the people on my flist are. I'm seeing a lot of recs of people who have LJs...but I think most of us know each other, so I'm going to try to rec people who might otherwise be overlooked.

In that spirit, my rec for this post is the lovely and talented Fallowdoe. Her fic "Spiegel Im Spiegel" takes a terrifying "what-if" scenario (what if Buffy hadn't been able to stop Glory from opening the portal at the end of S5?) and pulls you into that world from Spike and Buffy's separate points of view. Her writing style is almost lyrical, and she really makes you feel it, you know? Her short character pieces are just as good, and she's got a sequel to "Spiegel Im Spiegel" in the works as well.

I'm thinking about making an LJ Fic Rec Comm, so that once FFAAW is over, we don't lose all this in the shuffle. I don't have time to go read everyone and everything that's getting rec'd this week, so it'd be nice to have one place to go for it...

FANFIC AUTHORS' APPRECIATION WEEK

March 6 through March 13

Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.

Day Four
It's been really interesting poking through my own profile at FFN and seeing who showed up on my Favorites list way back when. For this post, I bring you Don Sample, one of the Kings of Crossovers. Seriously, any author that can make this work--is a genius. And he had me crying over Mr. Gordo in this drabble. Really.

And, no, the CYA fic is not done yet. I decided that putting the explanation for the splitting of Fred and Illyria in an A/N at the end would be cheating, so now I'm scribbling a phone call to Giles. On the other hand, I also decided that I really didn't want to deal with what they're going to do with Wesley's body, so I'll stick a line in there about "dealing with it later" and leave it at that. Still not sure if I'm going to bring Harmony back or not.

Argh. Lucky for me I've still got a couple of weeks to finish the thing...
