Obligatory Oscar night post.
Feb. 27th, 2005 03:22 pmYeah, we've seen one movie nominated for Best Picture--"The Aviator." So, I've got a great big "Meh" reaction to tonight's festivities. The only thing I have strong feelings about as far as the nominees this year go, is that I devoutly hope "Million Dollar Baby" loses big. Which probably means it will win big.
And, let me get this straight: Ray Charles, Howard Hughes, and JM Barrie all get Oscar nods. Alfred Kinsey's bio gets a major nomination. Who gets basically ignored this year? Jesus Christ. Dude. That's screwed up.
Arnold Schwartzenegger said something interesting this morning on "This Week Needs David Brinkley." And I didn't notice it until he mentioned it. There's no category for stunt work. Man, those guys and gals sometimes risk their lives for the sake of a realistic shot, but TPTB at the Academy think that Sound Editing and Sound Mixing are more important.
Humph.
