Not sure how much drabbling I'm going to be doing this week, because the "You Got the Stones" fic is proceeding apace with 5200 words and counting. I really have a love/hate relationship with characters that go off and do wacky things on their own with no regard for how that complicates my life. And I'm not sure I'm going to be able to tie this up in a neat little package at the end, and I'm really not sure I'll be able to give it a happy ending (since I've got a fairly major character death here--and no matter how the fans feel about him, remember that Buffy loved him, okay?). And since Spike's chip doesn't work anymore--and this takes place in Season 5--how will that affect his relationship with Buffy and the rest of the Scoobies? The scope of this fic wasn't really meant to deal with an issue like that, but I may be forced to take at least a brief look at it.

[more evil laughter] Okay, no more teasers. You're just going to have to wait until it's done....

Something Jane Espenson said at WriterCon triggered this.

She pointed out that making Willow bisexual after Tara died would have been interesting, adding another layer to her character. At the same time, it would have also vindicated some audience members who were *cough* less than supportive of her lifestyle choice, in that, had she gone back to a man, the relationship with Tara could have been dismissed as a "mistake." That was something the writers didn't want to do to that character, so they didn't go into it.

Here's a polarizing character for you: Riley Finn. Millions of fans of BtVS hate Riley with the fire of a thousand suns. They want him to die a horrible, slow death. I'm not one of them. I thought he was a decent, kind, nice guy...who got in a little over his head. Behind the cut because the rest of this is hella long )
