I'm so ashamed.
Jun. 22nd, 2004 07:32 pmToday is Utah's Republican primary election. We've got some pretty hotly contested house seats, and the governorship is up for grabs as well. You'd think people would be interested, right?
Well. I went to vote, at 6:30pm. The polls had been open since 7am. How many people voted before I did?
Fifty-two. Yup. That many. Fifty-two people walked into the courthouse to vote in eleven and a half hours.
A lot of people don't think primaries are important. But you know, you have a bigger voice in the primary, deciding WHO is going to be on that final ballot, than you do in the general election, because the turnout is so low.
Voting is important.
Dammit.
