Argh, hurricane stuff. This doesn't seem to be anyone's finest hour, does it? Awful, awful, awful. And that's really all I'm going to say about it, except that everyone in the affected areas is in my prayers. What those poor folks are going through down there makes my little problems look awfully tiny in comparison.

[livejournal.com profile] sunnyd_lite had some excellent suggestions for me after I sent my plea for fic help out into the ether, and I have actual words for the Illyria birthday fic. I'm not sure where it's going or how it's going to end yet, but I might have an idea or two. *evil grin*

Technical question about definitions: Does a H/C fic always entail sex? Because I've got this horrid little Jaylee plot Rottweiler chewing on my leg, but sex would be completely inappropriate, and I just want to make sure I've got the classification correct if and when it finally spews out of my keyboard. Argh.

Hmm *I* don't think h/c MUST have sex, what rating level did they give you? If it takes the reader out of the story it's wrong. (so saith I)

And you helped with my fic ideas too! 900 words down and I've just got them to the new local! Arrgg maybe I should just drabble the rest?!!

Oh, this plot is something out of my own twisted brain...but considering the subject matter, it's probably going to be an R. If I write it and don't consign it to the oblivion it really belongs in.

W00t! for 900 words! Awesome!

Every so often, just when I think I'm up to speed on my fanfic lingo, another usage flies through the window that I cannot decipher. H/C?

[It can't mean hard-core, because that involves a dash. A slash usually implies a character pairing, but whom "H" and "C" might be, I have no idea...]

H/C = Hurt/Comfort. Some character gets hurt, and the other character comforts them. Usually it's the strong character getting hurt somehow and the weaker character doing the comforting. And lots of time it involves The Healing Cock. Which, in the particular situation I've got chewing on my leg, NO. Just, no.

I would think it would usually be the other way around, involving 'the Healing...' and a c- word that I will not use in a lady's presence, even if it is equipment with which she is, ah, intimately familiar... Way back when, getting romantically involved with her patients was something a nurse was cautioned often to avoid, particularly in a veterans' hospital. Caring for a wounded warrior lying in bed, one thing did sometimes lead to another...

*sigh* You have to remember that a LOT of H/C is slash...

And apparently, in my fandom, a lot of it is Buffy getting hurt and Spike doing the comforting. Eh, whatever. I haven't been able to board that 'ship since S6.
