I have more words...

in the Giant Bug story.
Alas, those words consist of clunky and boring exposition. Yes, my audience needs to know why we suddenly have giant praying mantids eating our dogs, but there's gotta be a better way than this to tell them.
AUGH.
Not only that, but the Hubby thinks I can get a novel out of this if I play my cards "right." The problem is, I'm nowhere near ready to tackle a novel-sized project, which would require a hell of a lot more forethought than this seat-of-the-pants writer usually puts into her stories. Not that I don't think about the stories...I totally do, on a nearly constant basis. Sometimes I even *gasp* write down plot points. But most of the time I just scribble as it comes to me. A major event in the BearFic happened because of something a character said that gave me an out for an ending, which I didn't plan on when I started the thing. Did I plan on that character saying that when I began? Hell, no. *snorts* But the end came together after he said it.
Screw it, I'm going to bed.
