We were watching the BBC version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and I noticed the name "Dave Prowse" in the credits. And that rings a bell in my geeky little brain. Aha! says I, that's the same name as the guy who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars movies, although James Earl Jones did the voice work.

So I looked him up on IMDb, and sure enough, that's him. He played Hotblack Desatio's bodyguard in HHGG. Hee!

This, of course, begs for a cross-fandom icon...

If my memory serves me well he was also the Green Cross Code Man. I once saw him on a chat show - singing the following to the theme music for Star Wars -'Star Wars, made me a fortune, paid off the mortgage, bought me a car..'! I don't think he took it terribly seriously!
