We've been drooling over PT Cruisers ever since they came out. And the Hubby said I could have one when he finished building his 67 Mustang Fastback. However, the Little Green Beastlet was getting on in years, so the Hubby's been kind of hinting that we might get a PT Cruiser if the right deal came along. Especially since we now have a friend in the car biz.

So, I was poking around the internet last night, and came across a screaming deal (we're all about screaming deals, remember) on a 2004 PT with less than 1500 (yes, you saw that right) miles on it. So, we toddled up to Ogden this morning, after making a phone call to be sure it was still there, test drove it...

And, long story short, it's sitting in the garage right now. It's a pretty stripped down base model, but the only things it doesn't have that I wanted were keyless entry and a cruise control. I've been living without those anyway, so no loss, really. This is as close as I've ever come to having a brand new car.

So, the Little Green Beastlet is gone. It was a great little car, the best one I've ever had, and I'll miss it. We had some good times together. But it's been replaced by the Purple Cruiserberry--and hopefully I'll build some good memories with this one as well.

Trawling way back

-- to a past entry just to ensure privacy, I find myself looking at the advent of your PT Cruiser. Envy, envy... but I'd want mine basic Henry Ford black. If you're going to be archaic, go whole hog. I've got the dash-mounted 8-track player still in original packing, waiting...

My reason for delving was to say that yes, if you observed my user info, you'll see that I'm conservative also. This (http://www.livejournal.com/users/nodrogg/12626.html) gives as good a picture of my own views as could be asked.

As you've noticed, we're somewhat outnumbered on LJ. PJ O'Roarke put the proper interpretation on that, in a passage from Give War a Chance: Why do all the Yahoos come out in droves whenever their agitators call them, while our presence at a protest is merely a handful of Young Republicans waving flags?

We have jobs.

I've locked horns with fools here, realized that they were were fools, and backed off -- heaven save us from the college-age pseudointellectual!

Yeah, I try not to get into arguments with people on LJ. As a veteran of the old Prodigy Classic Rush Limbaugh board, I still bear the scars from the bad old days, and I just don't have the energy to get into long-winded debates with people anymore. I'll still rant on occasion (if you scroll back farther you'll see what I said about Terri Schiavo), but most of my time these days is put toward raising my son and writing.

Nice to meet you!
