I was poking through some of my entries from last year and came across the one where I'd run my fics through the Gender Genie to see what my fic voice was doing, and got some interesting results. I decided to do it again with my longer fics (because doing it for the drabbles would just take too damb long), and got some interesting results.

Indispensible, Exquisite Cats: male. Since this is told from Spike's, Gunn's, and Angel's POV, this is a good thing.

Legolas' True Love: female.

Chicken Soup for the Old One's Soul: female. Since it's kind of a caretaking one, that fits. Gender stereotypes R us!

Retained Skills: female. Buh? It's a Xander fic. A short one. But, okay.

A Mess of Pottage: male for the first chapter, female for the remaining three. Strikes me as odd. But, I think one of the words it keys on is "her," and Spike is concerned about the Slayer, so he's focused on that, so I suppose it makes a weird kind of sense.

Grief Reconciled: female. Again I say Buh? Wes, Spike, and Illyria.

Remembrances and Plans: female. Dawn's POV, so that's cool.

Cold Comfort: male. Illyria's POV. Interesting.

Soulless, Evil Things: female, all four chapters. Mostly Buffy's POV, I guess, so, okay.

Blood Rite: female. Lots of Fred in there.

Aftermath: male. Gunn's POV. Yay!

New Beginnings: female. Wesley's POV. I don't get it. Again, the script has a thing about assigning "her" and "hers" to female writers, and since Wes in this story is trying to either save Fred or Lilah, then I guess it makes some sort of sense--and it also seems to think that "me" is a female word, and it's a first-person fic. So, the results are just a wee bit skewed for this one.

So, yet another exercise in geekiness from yours truly. Most of them female this time, and a few surprises.
