Happy New Year!
Jan. 1st, 2004 03:02 pmWell, Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you were all safe last night. We...stayed in. What a silly time of the year to have New Year's--when it's 25 degrees outside. Ugh.
I have two resolutions, and a goal.
Resolution 1: Lose five pounds. And, since I tend to bounce between 124 and 128, I'm sure I will lose, cumulatively, five pounds through the year....over and over and over again. LOL
Resolution 2: Write more fic. Not sure what writing "more" will entail. I scribbled the equivalent of a novel last year. Maybe emerge a little more from the comfy little AU cocoon I created and write more intra-canon stuff. I've got a thing running around my head right now, post "Beneath You," that I think I'm going to be working on soon. That episode still haunts me, even after all this time.
Goal: Write something original, that's all mine. I have NO idea what that will entail, or what kind of story it will be, what genre, how long, etc...but I will make an attempt.
I have lots of people to thank.
My Hubby, for putting up with my (probably unhealthy) Spike obsession, and not being threatened by it.
My (published) Mom, for encouraging me to write, even though she thinks I'm wasting my time with fanfiction and should write original stuff that I could actually get paid for.
Aeneas, for being my first online fanfic friend, and for her unfailing encouragement. It was by reading her stuff, and Richard Bachman's "Normal Again" fic, that I actually thought it might be possible for me to write myself. It was they who opened up the entire fanfic world for me.
The eBay Bidding Board, for being an unfailing source of encouragement, laughter, and information.
The No Cookie Bad Buffyfic Board, for showing me the true meaning of badfic and helping me avoid most of the pitfalls. I'm sure I've still committed a heinous sin by making Spike a Christian in (some of) my fics, and I'm sure that there are some on that board who don't like that I've done that....but they've been remarkably quiet about it and for that I'm grateful. Although, I wouldn't mind some feedback or other from them, so I'm at least not feeling ignored sometimes.
The Spikeshaven Yahoo Group, for receiving me warmly even tho my fic is somewhat out of the "mainstream"--whatever that means in the world of Buffy. LOL Deana (spikeswillingslave) has been especially nice to me and has encouraged me to post my fic there. Thanx, Deana!
If I've left anyone out, please don't take it as a slight. It has, after all been a long year, and I can't possibly thank everyone who's touched me in some way. If I have left you out, please know that you are still in my thoughts and prayers.
