Honest to God, I have no idea how to describe this movie. I think you have to have a certain kind of sense of humor to appreciate it, and a couple of scenes made me laugh out loud (I grew up in a ranching community myself, and the FFA scene was especially funny)...but it's just--
The key, to me, is the prom. It has the prom and the student body president things, which are standard teen movie events, but instead of a Footloose, "We're young and it's great" scene, you have a "We're young and we hate every minute of it and we're forced to participate in these things where you're young and it's great and it makes us hate every minute even more" scene. K appreciated the movie because it's surreal at points, like Monty Python. I loved it because, to a great extent, I was Napoleon Dynamite.
Wow. I love that movie, and I have no idea why, because it's just sort of horrible! I suspect it's just because it's so darn quotable. "What ever I feel like I'm gonna do, GOD!"
Hee. I guess it was just so out there that I couldn't help but be amused.
