We went and saw "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" and "Hitch" this afternoon.

The Heffalump movie was adorable. That being said, there's not much of interest there to anyone who doesn't have a toddler, so, see it with a child you love. Or a child you tolerate.

"Hitch," for those of you who have been hiding in caves and haven't seen the trailers, is the tale of a "Love Consultant" (played by Will Smith), who falls in love himself and finds out that it's not as easy when he has a personal stake in the outcome. It's two movies in one, his story, and the story of his current client, who is madly in love with a very hot, very rich woman.

What I really, really liked about this movie was that it was about actual relationships, and not just about "hooking up." In fact, Hitch turns down a consult for a guy to wants to just screw a girl and forget her, because "that's not what I'm about." And later, that guy is shown to be exactly the sleaze that he is--and gets a knee in his crotch as well, which made me cheer. And there are the classic misunderstandings and stuff, and it's cute and funny and poignant all at once. This one may actually go in the DVD collection. Two thumbs up, from both me and the Hubby.

In other news, I found a catnip toy that we'd bought ages ago for the Audrey kitty, now deceased, that she was never interested in. The current cats, however, love the thing--including the cat who has permanent rhinotracheitis. First time I've seen her interested in a toy, which is nice. I need to plant some catnip...

See, I'm just waiting for Constantine to come out. Now that I will see.

Man, I hope you're not too disappointed in it. I'm not sure that the badass bastard Constantine of the comicbookverse is going to translate well to the silver screen. I want to see it too, but I know nothing about the character other than what I've read about him at GAFF, so I won't have any preconceived notions.

Oh, I have low expectations, but so far it looks cool and I'm not expecting it to really follow the comicbookverse in any respect. But you should get a Hellblazer book - they're surprisingly good. I'd suggest you start with Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits. It's one of the best.

Well, finally, a romantic comedy I can go see with an actual rec. I haven't gotten, like, any of my fluff fix since the fall, and normally I am a complete sucker for romantic comedies of any kind. You just had to kill that wedding date movie with actual logic, didn't you? ;)
