I had a ton of fun on @DCR_show (Dungeon Crawlers Radio) last night!

And, in case you missed the live episode last night, it's archived here. We talked about my book, hinted at a sequel, and discussed short stories, Robert Downey, Jr., and other fun topics. They'd even seen "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," making the total number of people who've even heard of it fourteen instead of just twelve!

Give it a listen and show them some love. <3

Also, for anyone in the Salt Lake City area, I'm doing the "Local Authors and You" event at the Viridian Center in the West Jordan Library tomorrow from 1pm-5pm. Lots of workshops throughout the day, including one by me titled "The Art and Science of Psychotic Persistence" at 1:00. There will be giveaways every half hour, so come and check it out.

In my quest to get my VHS movies replaced with DVDs...

I hied myself to FYE today to pick through their extensive collection. I picked up six movies for under $22. One of them wasn't on my list, but it's a Downey movie and it was a dollar, so... yeah.

To replace the VHS tapes, I picked up:
Bedazzled
Mystery Men
Bullitt
Batman Forever (this remains my favorite Batman movie. And the only one I actually own. Shut up.)

Along with a pair of Robert Downey, Jr., movies:
The Pick-Up Artist (which was a dollar)
The Singing Detective (which was new rather than used... and four dollars)

Win.

O. M. G. y'all.

Yeah, I just saw the Iron Man 3 trailer.

Mind. BLOWN.

Dudes. It's gonna be awesome.

Because, well, Iron Man 3, of course. But also Shane Black. And Guy Pearce. Also, a careful watching will reveal a giant plush bunny in the Malibu mansion. WHY. WHY DO TONY AND PEPPER HAVE A HUMAN-SIZED STUFFED RABBIT IN THEIR HOUSE.

You guys, I can't wait.

So, yeah, I should be writing.

I'm making wallpaper instead. As I do.

OH HAI.

Firefox has a new thing. Or maybe it's an old thing that I've just now discovered.

Personas. You can now have Robert gracing your browser. They also have Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man. Or any other thing you want, really. They have Buffy too. Pick a fandom, any fandom. This one's for you, [livejournal.com profile] pensive1.

Shiniest. Thing. EVER. The more I use Firefox, the more Win it is made of.

So, you know, Iron Man 2 is coming out in a week.

I feel like a Bad Mommy. We've got a midnight showing. And I seriously considered (a) leaving my nine-year-old child alone while I go see it, or (b) waking him up and taking him with me. Neither of which is a viable option. But GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaah.

However, Robert's been doing interviews and photoshoots and whatnot, and he's in this month's Rolling Stone looking OMGSOHAWT. And in honor of that, I come bearing wallpaper. Also, a new OMNOMNOM icon. I debated putting text on it and decided that it speaks for itself, really.

The lyric is from "Broken" by RDJ.

Why does everyone hate on ScarJo? I think she's cute.

So, Robert's on the cover of Men's Journal this month...

And [livejournal.com profile] chemikalien was kind enough to post the pictures in ridiculously large format.

Of course, the first thing I did was make wallpaper.

I particularly like the quote I used on this one. It's very him. Well, of course it is, he said it. But still. He's feeding the good dog with the Wing Chun.

*headdesks repeatedly*

= me

I should be writing. I have the time. I have the house basically to myself because Da Boy is in the family room watching a crash video, the Hubby is off on a four-day trip, and I'm in the front room with my laptop.

But I'm not writing. The Muse has left the building. I am singularly uninspired. Instead, I'm making (yet another) RDJ wallpaper. I have made, at last count, 47 of them. Tell me, o flist, why do I need more? Other than the fact that I've found some new pix that need to be immortalized on my desktop. *sigh* Yeah, I even went hunting lyrics from his "The Futurist" album for the tag. NOT THAT I'M OBSESSED OR ANYTHING. As you can see, I'm back in the Polaroid phase. Uncreative [livejournal.com profile] agilebrit is uncreative.

And, therefore, I share. Here.

This is one of the best things I've ever seen:

Oh! Also! Wallpaper, because there's an Oscar ad for the soundtrack:

Also, there was a Fandom_Sekrit today...

That made me wonder if I have a big ol' target painted on the back of my head. Not that I'm a BNF or anything in any fandom at all, but I've had a guy busting my chops over this very issue (yes, the link leads back to my own Photobucket account because Tinypic sucks and will eventually eat the picture) on the IMDB Sherlock Holmes board and it's just ... I dunno. Coincidental?

Paranoid [livejournal.com profile] agilebrit is paranoid and also has a giant ego, y/y?

Apropos of this, I've been thinking of making some macros in the style of [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets that are in no way secret and posting them here for the funny. But since I've actually been making progress on the writing projects, that notion went by the wayside. It's still in the back of my mind, though.

You know how I don't write RPF, like, at all?

Yeah, toss that out the window. Behold this photo of Robert Downey Jr, in all his sartorial glory:

Note, especially, the Orange Scarf of Hilarity. Hey, no one in the history of ever has claimed the guy is a snappy dresser. (Other than the shoes. The shoes are awesome. Always.) Second-hand embarrassment, thy name is Robert Downey, Jr.

And then, there's this video:

Note the Missus, wearing that self-same scarf, at about 2:54.

I'm sure they have a barter system or something. *nods* So, I imagined a conversation at the airport (because this is clearly at an airport) that went something like this:

"Here, sweetie, hold my purse. And my carry-on. And the Orange Scarf of Hilarity."

"Aw, honey, no, not the scarf, the fangirls are going to have a field day with that, you know they are, especially that Agilebrit woman, you know, the one I took out a restraining order on..."

"Scarf, now." *wraps it round*

*meekly* "Yes, dear. OH GOD NOT THE PAPARAZ--crap."

I figured out why, exactly, I love Sherlock Holmes so much.

As you know, Bob, I'm a huge Robert Downey Jr fan. I will go see him in a movie where he sits on a stool and reads the phone book for two hours. This is not a secret.

That being said: No matter how much of a drooling fangirl I am, not every movie he's in works for me. I loved Iron Man beyond all reason and have probably seen it twenty times. And then he did "Tropic Thunder."

And he was amazing in it. Robbed of the Oscar, IMO. But I didn't actually like the movie itself that much. Yes, it was alternately hilarious and horrifying, sometimes at the exact same moment, but the horrifying moments and the near-constant f-bombs overshadowed my enjoyment. I only saw it once, and it's not in my DVD collection (yet).

Then he did "The Soloist." Which he and Jamie are both amazing in. But it's a Big Serious Movie about Big Serious Issues, and it's not, for lack of a better word, "entertaining." Nor is it meant to be. It wrestles with a tough issue, and I'm good with that, more power to them for going there and not ending it with sunshine and roses and easy answers. But, again, I've only seen it once. There's only so much Sad I can take.

And then Sherlock Holmes crossed my radar. Well. It crossed my radar before they even began filming, because of the aforementioned "drooling fangirliness." I have been looking forward to this movie for over a year. I was terrified that it would disappoint me, that it would rape a beloved character sideways, that it would fail to Tell Me A Story. I had to wait a week after it was released to see it, for various reasons, and I was on pins and needles.

And then I finally got to see it. And it thrilled me. The characters, the story, the cinemetography, the acting, OMG the music--it was a delight from beginning to end. THIS RIGHT HERE is what a movie should be. THIS RIGHT HERE is what I want in a RDJ movie. THIS RIGHT HERE is what I want in a Sherlock Holmes movie.

The relationship between Watson and Holmes. Holmes being a badass. Holmes being too clever for his own good. Holmes having a woman fall in love with him with no idea what to do with that. Watson being long-suffering. Mary being awesome. A villain with a dastardly plan that only Holmes can thwart.

And underlying it all, a sense of out and out FUN. I've now seen this movie three times, and it never gets old. It's brought back the same feelings I had watching Iron Man. And that's why I love it.
