The guns I use for home defense stay in the house, except to go to the range for practice.
The guns I would theoretically take out of the house for self-defense, I would do under the auspices of my Concealed Carry permit, which I will be getting next month. In order to get one of those, you have to take a certified class, be fingerprinted, and get a background check done by the FBI. I assiduously hope and pray I will never actually need it. And no one will ever know I'm carrying unless I do need it.
