When things are good, I work like crazy all through the night, and in morning I'll look at what I've done and go "Wow, I did that?" When I try to just push through, I ruin everything I touch. I've learned from experience that I have to respect the muse, and do things at her own pace.
I'm currently working on a bisque doll that is over 100 years old, and I can't afford to screw it up. She's going to have to sit on the back burner until I get the flash of inspiration I need to start up again.
When I get "stuck", I do things like photograph my old inventory for catalog, list stuff on Ebay or Etsy, and clean up the kitchen - all the things I never do while I'm creating! Gotta find the balance, you know?
