The Hubby and I were able to go see movies in a regular theater that we would have had to get a sitter for, were he here.

So, we double-featured Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones*.

AND THEY WERE BOTH MADE OF AWESOMESAUCE WITH CAKE ON TOP. AND ICE CREAM.

Oh, golly yes. Give me more of this.

We had a half hour between movies and walked around looking at posters, going "Yep. Yep. OH GOD NO. Yep. DEFINITELY. Why is that guy still working again? Oh, hey, that might actually be good since Lucas isn't writing it. OMG MUST SEE. AUGH WHERE'S MY TEN-FOOT POLE? *makes warding signs*"

This sparked a discussion of actors and how we perceive movies that star them. We agreed that we wouldn't touch the new Eddie Murphy vehicle, "Meet Dave," with a ten-foot pole...but that the concept would have looked pretty cool had it starred someone actually good, like Will Smith. Conversely, "Hancock" wouldn't have looked nearly so shiny with Eddie Murphy in the starring role.

Discuss.

I saw Chronicles of Narnia last week. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I thought the plot got muttled, particularly at the end. But William Moseley is all kinds of hawt so I forbear.

I'm going to see Indiana Jones this weekend, I heard it was getting bad reviews at Cannes.

This is Lucas's last chance with me. If this sucks, I'm so unleashing the snark.

We loved it. Action from start to finish, and it's very Indy. The fact that they brought Marion back was icing on the cake. Harrison Ford has still got "it," whatever "it" is.

I saw Indy last night. the whole alien thing seemed outlandish, but uber cool and considering how out there the other three movies were, it was totally on track with the rest of the films. Also Cate Blanchett is a hot russian. However, the gunpowder compass was almost too far out for me. I did like all the little references to the past movies :)

Caspian was pretty. um, that's about all I thought. The book is essentially a battle, so I had tiny issues with them taking the underground and the elevated tension between Peter and Caspian. oh, and the stupidity of the significant glances of Susan and Caspian. I need to go see it again and not think about the book at all and then I'm sure I'll love it. THO! I did like the appearance of the White Witch. Then again, I am biased. I originally saw the 4 BBC versions and those are my favorite regardless of how pretty.

It wasn't the gunpowder for me, it was the shotgun pellets...which were made of lead back then. But then they 'splained that the skulls attract lots of different kinds of metal, so...okay. Heh.

It's been so long since I've read the Narnia books that I'm going into the movies with few to no preconceptions. This is nice, because I can just enjoy them for what they are and not get rageful about what they changed.

Well, I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to something like this. As long as they don't have any ginormous plot holes and the characters are vaguely in character, I'm happy. LOL

It's interesting because I really love Eddie Murphy but he hasn't done a good movie in so very long I'm hesitant to see anything with him in it. so much talent to completely wasted. While Will Smith just impresses me more and more. After Pusuit of Happyness I believe he can play anything.
