I'm also going to echo what many have said about The Open Source Boobs Project: NO TOUCHY. Seriously, folks, two people on the whole entire planet are permitted to touch my breasts. If you're not my husband or my gynecologist...you're not one of them. My boobs /= Open Source. CLOSED SOURCE. Closed and locked. No longer available.

I don't like being touched by strangers at the best of times--and, while I may be having the best of times at a Con, that good time will immediately cease for both me and anyone who thinks it's okay to grope my boobies. I will be scandalized, and the groper will have broken fingers and possibly broken testicles. I mean, even the Hubby and the gyno don't do that sort of thing in public.

GOOD TASTE. LEARN SOME. THEY'RE CALLED "PRIVATE PARTS" FOR A REASON.

I've been running into comments about this Open Source Boob Project all over my flist. Did this just pop up this weekend or something? Wierdness. Anyone attempting a grope on me will find that my very kind, gentle, loving husband is also a very large, powerful and can be dangerous man.

Oh, I am so glad I don't get involved in Internet flaming. And how readily the trendy misandrist rage flames out… I read theferrett's post, and he's as gentlemanly and apologetic and cautionary as he needs to be, as reason requires. Reason, however, does not interest melannen. She wants Larry Summers-style groveling and piddling on the floor, and will accept nothing less. A Youtube video of theferrett putting a gun to his head and blowing his brains out might appease her. Just don't let it happen again!

I can almost see how something like this could come about. After all, the bounds of propriety are being pushed farther and farther every day and will soon be nonexistant, if trends continue. But it's amazing to me that no one in that group stood up and said "Guys, this might not be such a good idea..."

I'm not real thrilled with the women in this situation either. I mean...a woman started it by saying "You can touch my boobs." *facepalm* WTF, people. Although I still don't get why it was appropriate to ask women wearing a "No you may not" button if they could be touched, because, um... NO YOU MAY NOT. Hello, Captain Obvious.

Consider “flammable.” There really is no such word. The word is “inflammable,” (as in, 'inflammation') but because the in- prefix usually connotes “not,” the retrofitted word flammable came into use as a warning, and has since passed into general use.

I don't mind language shift (words like "ginormous" and "funner" don't bother me), but when it blurs distinctions between two words that don't really mean the same thing in a technical context, I tend to get itchy. This may just be my inner bitchy pedant getting pedantic, though.

And I realize that it's a small distinction, but it's a distinction and I'd like to keep it.
