You know, it's one thing to pile problems on my characters in a story that's supposed to be somewhat humorous.

It's quite another to have a character whose (1) husband has died of cancer at a very early age (2) dog has been eaten by a praying mantis (3) job is about to be buggy-whipped. And here I sit, figuring out more ways to hurt her.

Sometimes I feel like a big ol' meanie. Yeah, I'm probably going to work on my "Dragon Cattle Barons in 1880 Texas" fic after this one. Because I need some funny.

In other news, IT'S SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!!! Not that we actually have a team to root for this year, but it's the Big Game and we will watch it and have Wif Burritos and Chocolate Chip Cappuchino Muffins and chips. Because that's how we roll.

In other other news, I'm still waiting to hear from a couple of markets that I subbed to back in November. And I should be hearing from the Aussie mag fairly soon? *crosses fingers*

(2) dog has been eaten by a praying mantis

::^::

Either it was one of those rat-dog things or that's one dang big bug.

*evil laughter* Thus the sobriquet "Giant Bugs." The mantis was about three feet tall, and the dog is a Miniature Labrador Retriever, whose size is left to the imagination. But it's small enough that a mantis would have no problems tackling it.
