We were about an hour later leaving the airport than we wanted to be this morning. But we finally got off and on our way. It was a pretty clear flight right up until we hit the mountains in Oregon, and then the weather came down on us. It didn't look like we were going to make it over them, as the Hubby isn't IFR current in the Cardinal and we didn't have the right maps anyway, so we stopped in Hood River to get on a weather computer to see what was the what. Kinda ugly, was the what, so we went to eat (Subway). Went back to the airport, decided to press on up the river canyon a ways to see if we could get out that way...and we did. The weather wasn't perfect, but it was good enough, and we made it into Seattle only a few hours later than we'd planned.

Toddled up to Half Price Books in Bellevue, where I scored 18 books for under $20. HAH. Chili's for dinner.

Wi-fi at hotel not working, v. annoying. Desk clerk let my use the hotel's comp to check my email and update LJ.

Woodland Park Zoo! Rain! Nearly 400 pix! Am exhausted. Scored a plush anteater. Wi-fi still not working. Blah.

You don't know how many times we've done that combination... I really think it's the best Half Price Books in the area, and I know it's the closest Chili's (even though it's about a fifteen minute drive from here if there's NO traffic). I love that whole mall... when we first moved to Washington state, we rented a house that was practically within walking distance, so we spent a lot of time there.

Love the photos, btw!! And it reminds me that we haven't been to Woodland Park Zoo in a really long time.

I'm going through my pix from the Point Defiance Zoo right now, and I'm struck by the fact that I got more and better pix there than I did at Woodland Park. Other than the butterflies, the animals at Pt Defiance were more interesting to me than the ones at WP. Weird...

Alas, the Woodland Park Zoo has a "no flash" policy in their nocturnal exhibit, which is where the lesser anteater resides. He was the only anteater we saw on this trip, but at least he was active and cute.

I'm so envious of your amazing photography skills. And your trips to such an obviously wonderful zoo.

Well...I don't post the pictures that FAIL to come out well, obviously. LOL And Paint Shop Pro lets me really "pop" the colors. The digital camera gets more credit than the camera used to, because I'm no longer focusing myself; the camera is.

Texas has several fabulous zoos as well. Our local one isn't *great* per se, but we do have some nice exhibits. But the freedom to travel is a great perk of the Hubby's job with its infinitely flexible schedule.

Yeah. We're dreaming of early retirement for the traveling thing. We're kind of nailed down right now.
