I thought about the Jasmine/Zoe thing for awhile, but when the resemblance between Jayne and Hamilton came up, Fred (who was the only one at that point who would have recognized her) had already been onboard for a bit. Besides, the last time anyone saw Jasmine, she was covered in maggots. And Zoe didn't make them love her either. *madly retcons own fic*
I really wanted a scene with Zoe and Wash, and possibly another with Simon and River, but the thing was already talk-heavy and I couldn't figure out a way to gracefully get them in there.
This is a story that would have benfitted greatly from an outline. I'm a very by-the-seat-of-my-pants writer, and sometimes (as in this case), I think the story suffers from it.
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it overall, even with all the problems it had. :)
