So. It appears that we're buying an airplane.

I'm slightly weirded out by this, which is hilarious under the circumstances. Those circumstances being that I've been married to a pilot for over twenty years and he's always loved this particular type of plane.

*wonders how this affects my "are you spoiled" score, because "airplane" isn't even on the list*

For anyone who's curious, it's a Cessna 177 Cardinal RG. Single engine, four seats, high wing--the one in Iowa that we went and looked at last week.

Now we just need to gather up the money, which is scattered over several accounts.

Heh.

Wow - that's impressive! (As the bishop said to the actress - or vice versa!)

LOL Not sure how "impressive" it is; it's not like it's a Lear or anything, but it's kinda neat. :) Now we don't have to worry so much about the vagaries of Delta's seat availability...or worry about their pilots going on strike.

Ah, see, I knew you were rolling in it, absolutely stinking rich - you can't fool me.

- Good job, by the way. Envy, envy...

Well, there's a certain amount of financial freedom you gain if you pay cash for everything right from the get-go. I believe that the first tax return my husband and I filed, our joint income was something like $8K. We've done pretty well for ourselves since then. It's all a matter of living like paupers for fifteen years and saving like a mad thing...

Neat! Are you a pilot too?
I like small planes, if I'm on the ground, not in the plane....

I don't fly, but the Hubby used to be a Certified Flight Instructor, so I'll have him teach me the basics. :)

That's way cool!

So, when do you think you'll visit Phoenix next? Can I have a ride? *g*

As Phoenix has three zoos and an art store that sells Oaxacan carvings, we love going there. As for a time frame...

Um. I don't know? The plane still has some work to be done on it, plus I've got WriterCon coming up in July, so...

Fall, sometime? I hope? And you may certainly have a ride. :)
