The good news is that I actually wrote fiction I could ostensibly sell this year--unlike last year, when LJRP ate my brain and I didn't write anything but The Adventures of Ben. Which was fun but not actually productive.

The last year that I wrote fiction, which was 2010, I scribbled 28,900 words across four stories: Sold Soul, Zombies!, Hitman!Ben, and Framed Werewolf. Zombies! was accepted for publication and should see e-print early next year, I hope. The same publication is holding Sold Soul for further review, so wish me luck on that one. Hitman!Ben garnered an Honorable Mention at Writers of the Future.

This year, I scribbled 36,200 words across three stories: Squonk, Won His Soul, and the Steampunk Werewolf Western. Squonk has passed slush at a couple of places. Won His Soul garnered an Honorable Mention at Writers of the Future. The SSW has just been subbed to WotF, so there's no news on that front yet.

Going forward, I plan to do my own short-story/novelette version of NaNo in both January and June, spending the intervening months in editing. If I manage to accomplish it, I'll have 100,000 words of fiction, although how many actual stories that will turn out to be is a question that will only be answered at the end of the year. To that goal, I have six complete outlines and most of a seventh in the can, so I have a plan.

Not only that, but the ArtFic was also accepted for publication this year, so that makes two. And the Cow story was deemed a better fit for a different magazine by the publishing head at the place I sent it, although they haven't accepted or rejected it yet.

All in all, I think I'm going to call this year a success!

Part of my problem is that I know exactly how Alex gets into this mess.

But. Getting him out of it is infinitely more difficult. Because bunnies are bunnies and how the heck would you know you got all the zombunnies even with lycan-bunnies hunting them?

Before you ask, yes, it's a slapstick comedy. The icon has never been more apropos.

I have everything but the resolution for this thing. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh.

Also, the "science" in it is going to be total bullshit. *headdesk*

Is in the can. Go, me, I have a buffer for this project.

And then I went back and looked at my first outline.

Understand that it's the first outline I've ever done where I started from scratch. And boy, howdy, is it sketchy. For something I could get a novel out of, these one- or two-sentence plot points don't really cut it. Good thing I'm comfortable flying by the seat of my pants.

I need to work on my serial killer dude some, though. His motivations are murkier to me than they ought to be. I just remembered that my Writing Buddy wrote a Serial Killer Infomercial that I should re-read. That totally counts as research, right?
