I realized this morning...

that this story is going to allow me to indulge in my cast-iron fic kink. (Which is different from a cast-iron sexual kink. Usually.)

The oldies on my flist know what I'm talking about. It's a leftover from the Buffy and Angel fandoms. I even managed to incorporate it into one of my Angel/Firefly crossovers, because I'm just BAD that way. I did it in my first ever story, and in my next-to-last fic in those fandoms as well.

And you poor newbies are scratching your heads and going "Do we want to know? Really?"

Well, whether you do or not, I'm going to tell you.

In vampire fiction, I have a thing about scenes where a vampire has to feed from a human, usually because the vampire is injured so badly that pig blood just won't do. Bonus points if it's a Slayer or a love interest, although I once had one where Spike (unconscious) fed from Angel in a non-slash story. Neither of them were happy about it.

And it's always a wrist, never a neck bite. Just to point up how...very...strange I am.

So, yeah. I'm probably going to find a way to do that in this. Because I'm me and this is my story and the plot will tend that way whether I want it to or not and whether I do it deliberately or not.

Also, this icon? Particularly apropos.

Remember the other day when I said I was going to double my wordcount goal in honor of NaNo?

Guess how many words I've done since then? Go on, GUESS.

If you guessed a big fat ZERO, you win a Kewpie Doll. In fact, I may be in negative digits because I went back and read the thing through and deleted extraneous phrases. This keeps up I'm going to miss my wordcount goal for the entire week. Not the doubled goal, the original one.

So, yeah. I suck.

I see Antubis over there, snarfing down chocolate-covered ants and absinthe. Not cooperating.

It might help if I knew what the next scene was going to be, and whose POV it was going to take place in. My POVs have been pretty scattershot here, which I don't know if that's even "allowed" anymore. Seriously, all five of my main protags, the main villain, and five side characters (two of whom have subsequently died) have all gotten POV scenes. And if I'm going to do that, then my female villain should get at least one POV scene, right? I mean, she just figured out that she's got a vampire offspring out there that needs to be dealt with.

I'LL DO THAT.

So, yeah. We went to Target tonight specifically so I could buy a movie I will never, ever actually watch.

What movie is that, you ask?

Less Than Zero.

I mean, I can't even watch this three-minute vid without needing to breathe into a paper bag. A whole movie? NOT HAPPENING KTHX. But it was $5, yo. And it goes in my RDJ stack with Iron Man, KKBB, US Marshals, and Chaplin, and will be joined soon by Chances Are/Only You.

The Hubby declares that I will watch it within two weeks. I don't think so, myself. I'll keep you posted.

So, we're going to Vegas tomorrow to watch an NHRA race over the weekend. Back Monday. I have no idea if we'll have internet access. I'm guessing not. Wish me luck in getting some writing done...
