The lovely and effulgent [livejournal.com profile] bigsciencybrain drove down today, and we went and saw "Stranger than Fiction" together at my local digital cinema (which is all kinds of awesome just on its own). And all I can say is:

GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Especially if you're a writer. This one's going in the DVD collection, and I'm hoping and praying that they have more than one commentary track, and that one of them is from the writer, because the narrative choices and the way the plot works out are FASCINATING. I need to see this again.

In other news, I went to the library today because Da Boy's Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs were due. And they had an MST3K DVD, which has the classic films "Women of the Prehistoric Planet," "Wild Rebels," "The Sinister Urge" (an Ed Wood, Jr. movie), and "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies." Plus a bonus short: "Keeping Neat and Clean." Good times.

I also picked up the third (and so far final) book in [livejournal.com profile] naominovik's "Temeraire" series. I seriously cannot wait to read it.

And last night, I made "Heroes" icons. Ten of them. Teasers:
