agilebrit: (Vengeance)
My [livejournal.com profile] freeverseficathon fic was supposed to be something angsty and sad and depressing about missed opportunities. The sort of introspective thing at the beginning is effective, and I would have loved if there'd been enough words in it for the whole thing, but alas, it was not to be. So, I continued. ColdComfortVerse, thought I. I can write that in my sleep.

*glares at Spike* Only now, it's not ColdComfortVerse anymore, because Spike and his women are complicated, and what just came out of his mouth directly contradicts something he told Buffy in "Gift."

Which isn't a problem, not really. I'm just a really big continuity whore.

how jedi are you?

That would be me. I wish.

I just read back over "Gift," and this thing I'm working on doesn't contradict it as much as I thought it did. Buffy starts to ask if they're sleeping together, and Spike interrupts her and says "Oh, God, no." Then later, she asks if he loves her, and he dodges the question. So...it still works, I think.

Dunno why I'm angsting about this so much. So what if it's not set in the ColdComfortVerse? Guess that's just part of my own personal comfort bubble. Heh.
