And I found the original BtVS movie in the $5.50 bin. Since I loved this movie beyond all reason when it first came out, and still think it's superior to the series in many ways (I know Joss hated it, but it's still mighty fine work), and I actually had $6 to blow, I grabbed it. And what do you know? The cashier was a fan too! She was all "Oh, I'd better go find one of my own!" Even after all this time, we fans can geek out together.

And, in honor of the original movie that got the whole ball rolling and gave us eight years of wonderful stuff, I made an icon (because that's what I do).

Brought on by this news story. Specifically this quote by Howard Dean:

But, he said, Republicans could stand in eight-hour lines "because a lot of them have never made an honest living in their lives."

Well, screw you very much, Dr. Dean. My husband and I have worked our ASSES off to get where we are, and we didn't take government handouts to do it, either. I worked my way through college without the aid of student loans, and the Hubby paid his own way through flight school, and we scrimped and saved and sacrificed back then so we could have the nice things we have today. The first year we were married, we made something like $8K, together, which sucked quite a bit. But we got by without welfare, without food stamps, without government housing. Because we were both working, and we didn't feel like we needed that stuff. And yeah, we were voting Republican back then too.

I resent the farking hell out of being told that I've "never made an honest living in my life." Most Republicans do work an honest day--more than an honest day. Most of the Republicans I know didn't inherit their wealth; they worked for it. And the fact is, you can go from making $8K a year to owning a paid-off quarter-of-a-million dollar house fifteen years later, if you're smart and willing to do what it takes to get there. Because this is that kind of country, no matter how much the Democrats tell you that you can't do it without them.

In other news, watch this video. It's hilarious...
