Written for: [livejournal.com profile] illmantrim wanted a phone call between Angel and Giles in AtS S5 that annoys them both and does nothing to solve the tension between them.
Notes: Takes place following "Damage."

"Hello?" Giles said groggily into the phone. His expression darkened when he heard the voice on the other end. "What do you want? Do you know what time it is here?"

"I want to know why you took Dana," Angel said. "We were perfectly ready to deal with her ourselves."

Giles pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes in exasperation. "I hardly think an evil law firm is the proper venue for getting an insane Slayer the treatment she requires."

"We have doctors and resources you couldn't possibly imagine. She's dangerous, Giles. She cut off Sp--one of my operative's arms! She thought he was the one who'd abused her. How are you going to cope when she decides to do that to one of your people?"

"I have resources as well, Angel," Giles reminded him. "Ones that don't involve the gratuitous use of demons and malignant shamans."

"Yeah, speaking of that, are you sure that activating all the Slayers in the world was such a hot idea? How many more Danas do you have running around? What are you going to do if one decides to take out an entire hospital instead of just escaping?"

"Well, we're not going to call you." Giles hung up the phone a little harder than was strictly necessary. "Wanker."

On the other side of the world, Angel glowered at the dead instrument in his own hand. "Prig."

Written for: [livejournal.com profile] wordoftheday100's "aloof" challenge.
Notes: Illyria ponders her lot in life.

She was trapped in this foul dimension. Her powers had faded to near nonexistence, her worshipers were dead and gone, and her armies turned to dust centuries ago. Human vermin, once barely noticeable ants to be ground underfoot, held sway, and Angel and his minions were unimpressed by her grandeur. Worse, she could not force them to venerate her as they should. Wesley, in fact, had ceased all contact, and the others--save one--barely tolerated her presence.

Holding herself aloof from them had simply made them more resistant to her needs. Perhaps...
