Arrrghhhh!
Oct. 8th, 2004 01:24 pmI dropped my PalmPilot the other day. Didn't think much of it at the time; the thing gets dropped all the time. But I went to turn it on yesterday, and NOTHING HAPPENED. Opened it up, nothing visibly wrong with it...finally, as a last resort, put new batteries in. And it booted up as though it had never been used before.
Now, this wouldn't be a problem, *IF* I'd regularly backed the thing up like I should have. Unfortunately, this incarnation of my Pilot has never been backed up. And therefore, every last scrap of information I had in it, all my addresses and phone numbers, my entire "book want list," all the pictures I've taken of animals I can't readily identify by just looking at them--it's all gone. So, now I'm going to have to reconstitute all that information somehow. *bangs head on keyboard*
In other news, I signed up for the NaNoWriMo. Which means that, during the month of November, I'm going to have to write an average of nearly 1,700 words a day, in an original novel. I have a concept. I have characters. What I don't have is plot or theme. Plot-wise, I thought about having a vampire that turns children on purpose as a kink, but...ew, you know? I mean, that's really dark, and while I'm not opposed to "dark" per se, I'm not sure I can pull that level of it off. Pedophiles get me in a very visceral place (more so now that I'm a parent myself than it did before we had Da Boy)...and I'm shaking just thinking about it. So, no. *shudders*
And, dude. I just got a really amazing review for "Aftermath. Honestly, it's reviews like this that keep me writing. To know that I've been able to convey what I did, to a guy like that, who's actually lived it...well, it touches me more than I can say. He just made my whole week.
