Another disturbing trend...
Sep. 27th, 2004 10:03 pmYeah, okay. I'm noticing that I have a tendency to have my female heroines feed themselves to Spike...or at least put themselves in a position where it's logical that they would. My first ever fic, Spike got poisoned by a dragon and needed the requisite Slayer blood to survive. In "Soulless, Evil Things," okay, that was part of the challenge, so, that was all right.
But in "Cold Comfort," I seriously considered having Illyria let Spike drink her, because, you know, she's a god, and he's hurt pretty bad, and the blood of a god would be a pretty good kick in the pants, right? However, I manfully resisted the temptation to do that, and just ended it, well, the way I ended it. And it was good, although I still kinda feel like it's missing something sort of intimate.
And in the current WIP, the
churchofspike ChairFic (yup, still working on that), I've got another opportunity for another female heroine, Fred this time, to feed herself to Spike. I'll (probably) resist that temptation once again, but I'm starting to detect a pattern here. Maybe four fics out of seventeen (plus over a hundred drabbles) isn't really all that many--percentage-wise, it's about a quarter of them. And I've only *actually* done it in two.
But, frankly, I'm starting to creep myself out a little.
