Tonight, I'm going to betray and kill a man. He's not a nice man, but, then, few really are. He's going to trust me, and I'm going to put a pair of bullets in his chest.

I sip another Sea Breeze and lean into the microphone, ready to belt out another old standard. So. Who's going to set me on my path?

I hide in the shadows, watching as she runs her lab with ruthless efficiency. Bloody hell, she's amazing. That soft Texas drawl hides a brilliant mind, and a few people who don't work here anymore made the mistake of underestimating her.

I'm the ghost of a vampire. I've got no right to expect anything from her. But if I had a heartbeat, it would stop every time she looks at me. If the others knew what I felt, Watcher-boy would find a way to remove me permanently from this plane--so no one can ever know.

Least of all her.

I hide in the shadows, watching as she runs her lab with ruthless efficiency. Bloody hell, she's amazing. That soft Texas drawl hides a brilliant mind, and a few people who don't work here anymore made the mistake of underestimating her.

I'm probably going to regret this...

But, what the hey. I'm not getting any writing done anyway. The YGtS fic has come to a dead stop, and the other two are going to take a lot of consideration before I consolidate them, and my brain seems to be vacationing. I have no ideas. Drabble challenges are always out there, and I can churn those out three a day, all week long, but dangit, I want to write something a bit longer. The next round of the fresliriafic ficathon won't be starting for a couple of days yet.

So, in the meantime...I'll throw it open to anyone who wants to participate. You don't even have to be on my flist; if you've somehow stumbled across my LJ and want to chime in, feel free:

Challenge me. I'll write anything, any character(s) in the Buffy/Angel fandom. Except smut and slash, either of which would be laughable coming from my keyboard anyway. I'll try to get at least 500 words out of it.

I'm sick of staring at a blank screen. Give me something to write.
