Okay. I officially feel bad...
Jun. 15th, 2004 09:39 pm...for Karl Malone. I mean, he played for the Utah Jazz for all those years, and never got The Ring. Then John Stockton retired, and Karl went to the Lakers for one more shot at it, since the Jazz didn't have a prayer of even making the playoffs without the Stock there. (Although they almost did.)
Now understand, I was pretty bitter about him going to the Lakers. I could have forgiven him for going to any other team, but I hate the Lakers with a passion, not really for any specific reason, but more because of their attitude. They're good, granted, but they're not as good as they think they are.
But, dangit...the guy deserves a ring. He did a LOT for the Jazz over the years. So...I feel bad for him. His team made it to the Finals, but they basically got blown out. And so did his knee. It's questionable whether he'll ever play basketball again.
So. [raising a glass] Here's to you, Karl. Thanks.
