For all the good it will do...

Dropping "Angel" is a huge mistake for the WB. Especially if you're dropping it to make way for another vampire show. Instead of taking advantage of a natural crossover audience for "Dark Shadows," you've just alienated a bunch of people who might have been loyal viewers for the new show after "Angel" had run its course naturally, instead of being cut off in its prime. I'm a 40 year old woman, so maybe my demographic isn't what you're looking for...but we have tons of disposable income that won't be targeted by your advertisers anymore, once "Angel" is off the air. It's not the fact of the cancellation, it's the way it was handled, that's upsetting me and most of the people I talk to. Praising a show to the skies and then cancelling it out of the blue seems schizophrenic.

Yeah. I realize I'm not part of the "young and hip" crowd that they're probably shooting for...but they're shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring me. Hubby and I have established ourselves. We're not young and poor and just starting out anymore--which the WB seems to be forgetting is the case with the demographic they appear to be going after. There's a huge "mature" audience out there, screaming for quality entertainment that isn't about 20-somethings shagging each other ("Friends"), or 60-somethings shagging each other ("Golden Girls").

Story and plot and characterization is important, dammit. And Angel is a show that deals with complex issues and doesn't have characters that are cardboard cutouts.

I guess that's why it had to go.
