More interesting reviews
Jan. 4th, 2004 12:01 pmWell....I have one from Azrielle asking me to continue. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. This was a one-shot. I have nothing further. I may stare at some Season 7 scripts later on and see if there's anything there I want to comment on in the form of a fic (things I wish they'd shown us), but for now--that's it. Finis. Sorry.
Then there's the one from "iluvSpuffy"--who obviously has issues. I have to wonder if this person even actually read the story, or if they read the reviews and then just wildly misinterpreted what Deana said in her review. Would it be too much trouble to actually read the damb fic? It's less than a thousand words long, for crying out loud.
In fact, in reading that review, I have to conclude that iluvSpuffy didn't read the fic at all. Because nowhere in there does Buffy actually apologize to Spike. She takes responsibility for her part of the debacle that was their relationship, and she forgives him. That's very different from saying "I'm sorry I drove you try to rape me"--which is not what I was trying to get across at all. And nowhere in there do I say it's all her fault. In fact, Spike refuses her forgiveness and runs out.
This is the review:
So you have Buffy apologising to her attempted rapist? Of COURSE it's all her fault, why didn't I realise earlier??
The Buffy / Spike relationship was screwed up from both sides, and with Buffy clearly depressed and not in her right mind you can count on ol'Spikey to take advantage of that. A class act, Spike.
Okay....I thought that's what I got across in the fic. That it was screwed up from both sides. I mean, yes...I did want to see Buffy and Spike together. But not the way they did it in Season 6. I'm not a "fangirl." I'm forty damb years old, and my eyes are wide open. Spike is not perfect. But neither, dammit, is Buffy.
Thinking seriously about emailing the person and asking if they actually read the thing....
