Speaking of comics...

agilebritI read issue 2 of the Serenity: Better Days comic last night.
Oh my GAWD, y'all.
So, in the last issue, they came across this huge cache of money, apparently free for the taking. And in this issue, they discuss what they want to do with their share.
Jayne wants to be the captain of his own ship, the "Radiant Cobb." Which is his mama's name. Man, you HAVE to love a guy who'll name a boat after his mother. He's not wearing a knitted hat in the fantasy, though.
Wash, too, wants a luxury cruiser. And babies. Awww. Zoe says that's fine with her.
Then there's some talk about the Dust Devils, a terrorist group that got together after the War. We have intimations that Mal may have been a member of this group.
Then we get Book's fantasy panel.
He's sitting at a desk, two very scantily clad women draped over him, smoking a cigar, with money, drugs, booze, and a huge pistol on the desk. Had I had something in my mouth, I would have either choked on it, or it would have met my laptop screen.
We switch to the crew. And they're sitting there in shock. *blink blink* And Book says "Kidding. Reckon I'd give it to the abbey." *snerk*
Simon wants nothing more than to be a doctor. Before, he would have said he wanted to settle back on Osiris, but he's gotten used to traveling, so, you know...the right vessel...
Then Jayne walks in and wants advice from Simon. On hiring a Companion. Because there aren't any real whores in the luxury hotel they're staying at. This page is also HILARIOUS. "And then I stick it in?"
Next page, some poor dude is being tortured. Practice for when the Bad Guy catches up with Mal. *wibble*
We cut to Kaylee in a hot tub with the other women, getting a manicure. We also see that whoever is doing the manicure is putting some sort of chip on her nail. Kaylee's fantasy is a mondo mechanic's shop, which she'll open with her dad, with all the latest gizmos. Also, having sex with Simon.
And then there's River's fantasy. Which would, again, have had me spitting stuff on my screen had I been dumb enough to have anything in my mouth.
This is true fantasy. She's in a Scarlett O'Hara dress, being escorted by a well-dressed fish, surrounded by fairies and a dragon and little blue guys (Wee Free Men? Perhaps!). There's a frog in a fez blowing a trumpet being hoisted by a ballon, with a hot air balloon and a castle in the background and candy canes growing out of the grass in the foreground. There's also a llama (shoutout to the llama on the original Serenity DVD cover!), and a yellow submarine floating in the air.
Very River. Zoe says, "Well, now mine's taken." Hee!
We swap to the men, sitting in the restaurant of the resort. Jayne's bitching about not being able to get sexed, and then a group of people try to rob the place. Our men foil the attempt! Yay, they're heroes!
Afterward, Mal finds Inara's shuttle, and notes that she might be with someone from Alliance Ops. Then he gets rifle-butted on the back of the head.

Seriously, if you're a fan of the show, you need this comic. So much awesome here.
