Maybe now the Muse will go to work on the other two.

Epilogue:

Angel sighed to himself as he hauled his weary body out of bed. Losing Cordy and Gunn both, in such a short period of time, was almost too much to bear. And Wes, again, had been the one going in with pistols blazing, doing what needed to be done. They hadn't even informed him--the boss!--until after it was all over. It would be nice to be let in the loop every once in awhile, he grumbled mentally, stepping into his private elevator and getting ready to begin his day as the CEO of Hell, Incorporated.

He was completely unprepared for the sight that met his eyes when he walked into his office. Fred slumbered, stretched out on the couch on her side, covered by Spike's duster. Spike slept sitting up, on the floor next to her, his bandaged arm draped protectively over her shoulder.

Angel started to open his mouth to say something...then closed it. Let them sleep. They'd had a rough time. His phone rang as he sat behind his desk. "This is Angel."

"Angel, this is Buffy. I got a really bizzarro phone call last night..."

Thanks! It pretty much wrote itself. Nice when that happens. :-)

Yeah ~ unfortunately, it doesn't happen for me very often, nowadays.

Heh. Me neither. Which is why I've got 8000 words in two different fics, sticking their tongues out at me.

I'm in the same boat on a small personal project. It's half-done, and not going anywhere fast.

{{{hugs you}}} Maybe we'll get lucky and tomorrow's ep will give us fodder for our Muses...

But you don't get to see it until Monday? {{{hugs you again}}

Right. Nothing until monday. And having seen the sub eppy back-to-back last night, I can say it left me completely uninspired.

"...some guy doing a bad Spike impression said he was over me and that he was dating some other guy named Fred or something. I could't really tell, since his accent was so bad I could only understand every other word."

Hee. Sorry about that.

The only thing the sub eppy gave me was Gunn's download slippage...which I think I used fairly effectively.

There's been some interesting analysis of that ep, tho. It wasn't bad for filler, and it gave us a little continuity.

Interesting that Angel didn't stake Spike in the sub. I don't think he really cared that he was letting a monster loose on society again. Two, actually. He sure wasn't at the Redemptionista, World-Save-age stage yet, that's for sure.

ROFL! How's the Monster's Alphabet coming along?

There is a lot about that ep that's debatable on merits. Angel was definitely still in the 'its all about me/leave me alone' phase. I think they made Spike look too much like a dink in some scenes, but I did like how he buddied up with Lawson to interrogate the Nazi ~ he knew how to pick his allies.

And I think the reason Angel didn't stake Spike is that, at that time, he didn't see himself as 'special'; still morally ambiguous (even with the soul), even then he knew he didn't have the right to judge Spike or take any summary measures against him. In fact, there were a few scenes where you could see him half-grin at some of Spike's actions. If this ep did anything, it further solidified the notion that these two have a relationshop that is built on more than animosity and one-upsmanship.

Showing Spike as a dink 60 years ago doesn't really bother me; a lot can change in 60 years--and hey, it shows how far he's come.

But, yeah. The dynamic between Spike and Angel is definitely more than it seems on the surface.

I'm procrastinating. I have a plot bunny for the Master, but I'm just putting off writing it.

Well, stop procrastinating. Write, man, write!

Heh. I'm one to talk. Two different fics staring me in the face, and getting nowhere on either of them. *grumble*
