I am holding...

...in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, the complete series "My Own Worst Enemy." Picked it up at Wally World for $20. Also, they had "The Prestige" for $7.50, and I had to have that. And then we hied over to Target, where I picked up S1&S2 of "Perfect Strangers" in the same set for $13, and "Get Smart" for $10. Yeah. Went a little DVD-happy today. I do not have a Mypos Dance of Joy icon, so Numfar will have to do.

And, true to my prediction, "Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian" was both more entertaining and also smarter than "Terminator: Salvation." (spoilers in the comments) Hank Azaria was perfect, OMG. Also, he has pretty arms. Shallow [livejournal.com profile] agilebrit is shallow. Sue me.

If anyone's interested, Target has the first season of "Burn Notice" for $15.

Dammit, I wish I could find "Restoration" somewhere, cheap. Woe.

So, yeah. We've seen all the big SF/F releases so far this year. And so far my faves are "Night at the Museum" and "Wolverine." I should probably be ashamed of that, but I feel strangely unmotivated to hand in my Geek Card.

Terminator was so... bleh. MINUS SAM WORTHINGTON, WHO IS AWESOME AND MADE THE MOVIE AWESOME WITH HIS VERY PRESENCE. Bale just shows up and acts like THEGODDAMNBATMANhimself.

Yeah, the whole "I am a machine but I must monologue my entire evil plan" thing was ridiculous. I mean, it's Skynet: Surely it's read the Evil Overlord List. Also, a heart transplant under battlefield conditions without mentioning anti-rejection drugs or even so much as a tissue match--that kind of strained my credulity just a little, yanno?

But, yeah, Sam's character was interesting. As was the chica who believed in him, she was awesome, but the actress was awesome in Journeyman as well.

I didn't like the not-BryceDallasHoward chick.

p.s. ARE YOU READING MY MIND WITH THE EVIL OVERLORD LIST SRSLY?! I was yelling that to everyone in the theater when I saw the midnight opening last week! /o\

Hee, thanks. I'm hoping it shows up, maybe, in the $5 bin at Walmart sometime. It appears to be out of print at the moment. Maybe. Tower seems to have it for $14 with free shipping on orders over $25...

I saw Night at the Museum II yesterday and really enjoyed it. I absolutely LOVED Amelia Erhart...♥

Oh, she was GREAT. This one's going in the DVD collection.

I am sorry to hear Terminator: Salvation was a bust. I was looking forward to it.

It had lots of things that went boom and the visuals were stunning. It's too bad they didn't blow some of that money on a script that was actually, you know...SMART.

Special effects seem to suck the dollars away from writing a good script. Big explosions do not make a good substitute for great writing.

And, as the latest Die Hard movie proved, you can have BOTH. They're not mutually exclusive! I wish Hollywood would learn that.

I LOVED the new Night at the Museum movie--Hank Azaria knocked it out of the park!

And since I'm unapologetically shallow, I'll say that I have had absolutely no interest (zero, nada, zip) in going to see Terminator: Salvation. Won't even blow my free movie ticket to go see it.

Besides, I need that free movie ticket to go see 'Wolverine' before I get my fangirl pass revoked...

I wanted to see it mostly for the Sherlock Holmes trailer. Which wasn't attached to it at my theater, so...yeah.

And I loved Wolverine. Naked Hugh Jackman. There is NO BAD THERE.

Somewhat random, but have you seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hTiRnqnvDs

It's a fake trailer for "Green Lantern" staring Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan. I would love if they made this, I think it would be fantastic.

I've been seeing that link all over the place and keep meaning to watch it. I shall do so NOW. Thank you!
