Well, frak me.

And now I'm writing actual!Iron Man fanfic. Because I've got an image in my head of Harry and Harmony and it should be Tony and Pepper and gorramit I really didn't want to go there but here I am. I'm such an angst-puppy. Gah.

Also, IMDB is being singularly uncooperative with the quotes for Iron Man. It looks like many of them came from the shooting script rather than the actual movie. And watching interviews with RDJ and Jon, we know that Robert walked into Jon's trailer on a daily basis with the day's pages in his hand, crumpled them up, and threw them against the wall, and they pretty much made the dialogue up as they went. So, yeah. Anyone have the actual quote from Tony after Pepper has her hand in his chest? Was it "You're all I have?" Argh.

In other news, LJ is bringing back Basic Accounts at the end of summer. *applauds*

125.2 this morning. Hubby thinks I look "hot." *grins* And I'll think of it as "2.8" more pounds to go rather than "3" because that makes it feel as though I'm still making progress. Of course, that might also mean I relax about it a little, which I really can't afford to do, so it's a two-edged sword.

Another rejection in the inbox. Whee. No one loves me. Or the CatFeet story.

Anyone reading this going to WorldCon? Hello? Anyone?

except - not really.

Basic accounts *will* have ads, just 'not on the journal' istelf and some pages, but on other pages they will. It's all in the 'news' announcement thingy.

LJ is still lamesauce.

Well, foo. I didn't read that far...

If I start seeing ads on my personal LJ, I'm going to be very put out.

Oh - it gets better.

If you have a 'grandfathered' basic account - ads will show up eventually. So, mostly, LJ is full of shit, yet again, and they WILL phase out what we consider 'basic'.

B/c right now, the way it reads, Plus and Basic are very similar, but seeing fewer ads gives you fewer icons.

I'm waiting for the day LJ starts charging for the 'basic' level accounts. To be honest, I think more ppl would pay $5/yr for a basic account (no perks; min # of icons) with NO ads than pay nothing for a Plus account w/ ads everywhere.

Honestly, something like that might work out better in the long run. Of course, if they do that, then people will bitch b/c it's not free anymore and there's no reason to come here, blah blah blah. The 'entitlement' attitude of the online hoardes is sickening, really.

Communication - yes; free stuff just b/c - no.

Well, what I'm seeing is that people who are logged in won't see ads, except on Plus accounts that already have them. Since I'm perma-logged, it won't change much for me personally. But people who don't have accounts on LJ will see ads.

I may be reading that wrong. :/

That's one of the options - they had listed about 3.

Either way - it's not exactly 'bringing back' the Basic accounts.

I'm waiting for Dreamwidth to get off the ground and functioning as they want it, then I'll probably be exclusively there. =)

Ahhh - but the dreamwidth.org design plan is to be a 'portal' to any and all journal-type sites. Designed to let you move w/o leaving everything behind - like getting a new job in a new city, as opposed to being put in witness protection. =)
