NO. Dammit.

Abso-friggin'-lutely NOT.

I don't need to write Pepperony H/C. I don't I don't I don't. Even if I do have a good couple of thousand words of set-up in my head.

Also, the smushed pair-name "Pepperony" needs to die a swift, ugly death.

I really didn't want the fanfic Muse to rear its head ever again.

GAAAAAAAH.

There's really nothing wrong with it, you know. Ask Naomi Novik, it won't hurt you to indulge it once in a while. :)

Well, I think what I'm going to do is write it, change some details, and do a name-swap. Even if these two characters will always be Tony and Pepper in my head, the billionaire industrialist and his hyper-competent PA are archetypes I can work with to good effect.

I hope.

That wasn't really my point at all. But whatever makes you happy!

I know. LOL It's just that writing fanfic feels like going backwards, y'know? Maybe when I have more original fiction under my belt, I'll be happy about writing fanfic again, but right now I'm just not prolific enough to want to spend time writing something I can't sell.

I shouldn't have stuck my nose in, I know you and I disagree on this and that's fine. :) Icon of cuteness, return to corners, and go!

It's not that I never want to write fanfic again, it's just that right now is kind of a bad time.

It would be really ironic if I wrote this, cleaned it up, scraped off the serial numbers, sent it to Writers of the Future...and won. So, yep. I'm writing it. We'll see if I ever actually finish it.

A little fanfic is good for anyone, I think--sort of a break from any stress of writing things you need to sell. It would let you just play, at least, and maybe taking a short break from OF would let you come back to your other stuff with some more ideas, or at least a little rejuvenated? Something.

Well, I'm writing it. I'm going to make it non-specific enough that it's not actually Tony and Pepper, because the billionaire industrialist and his PA are archtypes I can work with. We'll see if I even finish it. I have a couple of thousand words of set-up (not actually written yet).

Or you could write fanfic to your heart's content and then to the scrape-off-the-serial-numbers thing, which...I have never done but you have, so I probably shouldn't give advice in that area. But at least then you could post it somewhere and random people could read it too, or something (of course then you might have to clean it up a lot, but yeah).
