They say writing is a solitary pursuit...

And so it is. Except when it's not, and you bounce things off another person...

And that other person comes up with an absolutely brilliant way to make the scene you were just tearing your hair out about actually work.

This right here is why my wonderful husband is getting the book dedication. He's not a writer, and not even really a reader (of fiction), but he can still come up with fixes for my knotty plot problems.

That's a good stopping point.

I have blown past the midpoint and am now sitting at 26,200 words so far, which gives me 2900 words on my day--and which means I'll probably go for that extra hundred after I finish this entry just because. I revised my "Ideal Goal" down to 2000 words per day, because that's actually hittable and I'd rather encourage myself with something I can accomplish rather than discourage myself with something impossible.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try to put an END at the bottom of this one. I'm at the climax right now, so this seems possible, if not probable.

So far, so good. I handed the Hubby the remaining outlines, and he arranged them in order of what he'd like me to write next. Zombunnies came in first just because, I think, the word "zombunnies" is hilarious. So that one will be next, and then maybe I'll tackle Janni's story.

And in other Hubby news, he bought me a Micro Desert Eagle today. SUCH A CUTE BUT SERIOUS-LOOKING GUN, Y'ALL. I love it already even though I haven't fired it yet. Eeee!

Ahaha!

Well, after a conversation with the handsome and hard-working [livejournal.com profile] kurukami and another with the Hubby, I have a Hook for this thing. And thanks to some brainstorming on my own, I have a resolution.

Not that it will be fueled by my own bitterness at government regulation and interference or anything. *polishes halo*

Oh, this one will be fun to write. My poor damn spaceship crew; I never give them a break.

So, my day's not a total loss, anyway. I have a beginning and an end. I just need the middle. Which I will sleep on and work on tomorrow.

For now, more Harry.

Having a lovely time...

And I get to reiterate that brew pubs have the best food on the planet. Two nights, two different breweries, and both places had food to die for.

Yes, I've been scarce online; planning on being home tonight, in case anyone actually missed me. [livejournal.com profile] kurukami, if you've been able to hold off on watching True Blood, I should be able to watch that with you tomorrow night.

The framed!werewolf story has a title now, so I guess it's a matter of checking markets and seeing where to send it first. Oh, hey... that looks good. Wish me luck.

And now I should start the Next Thing. Something with fewer logistical problems than a cowboy who falls asleep in the Old West(ish) and wakes up a hundred years later. As amusing as the notion is, I'm not sure I've got the chops or the ambition to tackle something like that.

Twenty-five years ago today, I said "I do" to my handsome and talented Hubby. Here's to another twenty-five years (at least). I love you, Hubby. ♥♥♥

OMG, Y'ALL, I HAVE THE BEST HUBBY IN THE WORLD.

That writing seminar I posted about yesterday?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. HE'S SENDING ME. IS HE AWESOME OR WHAT. CAPSLOCK IS NOT ENOUGH TO CONTAIN MY GLEE.

Well.

It's better. As I've said before, it's amazing how much sticking a clause in the middle of a sentence rather than at the end can rack up the tension in an entire scene.

The Hubby took me to Texas Roadhouse yesterday for a nummy steak dinner. They opened at four. We got there at four. And they had a 20-minute wait. Looks like lots of other people had the same notion we did--that going out to eat on Valentine's Day on a Saturday on a holiday weekend would be monumentally stupid, so let's do this a day early and beat the crowd. Yeah, it didn't work.

But I didn't gain any weight yesterday, so...WIN. Two more pounds and I'll look really good. Four more and I'll be hawt again. I'm sitting right at the goal (127), but the "goal" isn't quite the "ideal." Yeah, today's a salad day. Since I love my salads, this is not a hardship.

Today is kind of a lazy day, with some school for Da Boy. I think we're going to rent a couple of movies tonight, or see some that we already have. And, as an extra-special present to me, the Hubby is reading over the not!kkbb/im novelthing and scribbling notes all over it. Which makes me go "squee" and "eep!" all at the same time.

I've got the whole thing sitting here in front of me. Now it's just a matter of tweaking it into something awesome rather than merely good.
