Well, that timing was stellar.

I'm actually not being sarcastic. Got a rejection last night for the Squonk story and immediately flipped it to Writers of the Future, since they haven't seen it yet, the deadline is the 30th, and there's no way I'm going to finish the steampunk werewolf western in time. It is stalled like a big stalled thing. Still waiting on word for Won His Soul. Gyah, this business.

In other news, I did receive the contract for the Zombie story in the mail and sent it back, signed, immediately, so. I believe the editor said that issue would be coming out next month.

And now, more Yellowstone pictures. This group will be the miscellaneous critters and a couple of other shots.

This coyote was a good three hundred yards away. Good Lord, I love this camera.

Bison were everywhere.

This chipmunk posed for me, flipping his tail up and down, at Gibbon Falls:

And this one was at the falls on the Yellowstone River:

We were right on top of this grouse and several others:

Pronghorns!

Sunset:

Moon over the camp:

And the obligatory Old Faithful shot:

Thanks! It really is an awesome camera. It's amazing how just a few years ago I couldn't imagine going digital and now I can't imagine going back to film.

I'd never be able to get shots like that! You make me want to take a photography class.

Well. *blush* Ninety percent of it is "right place, right time," five percent of it is "framing the shot" and the other five percent is pure dumb luck and praying the camera focuses on the right spot. That grouse shot, for example: I took two, and the first one focused on the foliage in front of the bird instead of the bird. I have no idea what algorithm the thing uses to decide where it's going to focus but sometimes it drives me crazy. I shot hundreds of photos last weekend; you're seeing the exceptional ones.

If I showed you my "exceptional" shots in similar circumstances it would be a game of find the animal. What seems clear when I aim the camera doesn't come out that way on film. I really am impressed with your photography.
