Oh, god.

Twelve dead, thirty-one wounded, in Ft. Hood shooting.

My dad was stationed there. I went to high school in Lampasas, just up the road. I doubt I still know anyone there, because it's a mobile community, but it's still just a little too close to home.

I just... yeah.

Yeah, we got the news while we were at training... :(

I am sitting on my hands and trying desperately to not jump to a conclusion.

That being said, I don't know if it's worse or better if the conclusion I'm trying not to jump to turns out to be true.

Oh, I jumped the moment I heard the shooter's name. I'm hoping that it's not a terrorist attack, though God knows what else it could be at this point.

*nods* I know, I know. I saw the name and went "YUP." And was immediately ashamed of myself. Although, considering history, I guess I really shouldn't be.

I mean, no one is ashamed of themselves when they immediately jump to a conclusion that an abortionist has been murdered by someone who's anti, whether the theory pans out or not.

TBH, my first thought was that some crazy civilian militia had gone nuts. I was actually relieved when I heard the stereotypically Muslim name. No blaming "disgruntled veterans" or Gadsden flag owners this time!

He was a muslim and was educated at Damascus University. I think that this was an act of war committed on our soil.

Consider the conclusion jumped, then.

yes. but I think that I will be proved correct. We are never as safe as we think we are.

Well, as Buffy would say, "I did not jump to conclusions. I took a tiny step and there conclusions were."

And I took the same tiny step. It wasn't too difficult. :(

He's also an American-born military officer.

Which makes it an act of domestic terrorism. And I hope it gets treated as such.

Unless it's one crazy guy, which is also possible. Not much is known yet.

I'm sick at heart over the devastation involved.

*hugs*

I had my own spaz attack about that too. I'm sorry it hit so close to home for you.
