So, I've begun revisions of the A&tS story. Adding a couple of scenes, adding a few sensory elements, making the character wonder a little earlier if he really is going insane.

Holy cow, y'all.

It is SO MUCH BETTER. This whole "driving the character crazy" thing works much better when you actually, you know, build up to it and look inside the character's head while it's happening, y'know? I woke up this morning with a couple more thoughts about the thing, and the ideas are flowing.

It may also double the word count and halve the markets I can send it to. Ah well.

Also, I have stricken the phrase "gasping for breath" from my lexicon. Because, really...what else would you be gasping for? We'll just call it "gasping" and leave it at that, shall we?

Phrases that are habits are very hard to spot for me. Congratulations on identifying and eliminating a hackneyed phrase, they're persistent devils. *Goes off to stomp some of my own*
