Another Big Damn Icon post...

Finished the icons for [livejournal.com profile] whedon100 today. This finally frees me up to work on fic without iconage eating my brain...and maybe I'll actually finish the ficathon entries I'm supposed to do. Heh.

But first, a couple of little news items.

We were out walking the other day, and Da Boy noticed an itty bitty little garter snake in the street next to the curb. It was SOOOOO cute! It was too small to get up onto the sidewalk, and it was a tad upset by this; we were trying to help it, and it kept striking at us. Ineffectively. Did I mention the cwoot? Oh, my heck, it was adorable. Anyway, it calmed down enough for me to pick it up, and I carried it down to the canal and turned it loose. So.Damn.Cute. Really.

This morning, I went to get Da Boy's milk for his cereal...and the light was out in my fridge. Hm, thinks I...wonder if the fridge isn't working, or if it's just the bulb? A couple of hours later, the temp has gone down in the fridge, so I sigh and decide to call the repairman with my new handy-dandy cordless phone. Annnnd...it's out too. TV's been working all day, as has the computer. Hm, thinks I, wonder if it's a breaker? So I toddled out to the breaker box, and apparently someone in the neighborhood thought it would be funny to turn half the breakers in my box to "Off." They hadn't been popped, because they would have been halfway, not Off. And all the breakers below one point had been turned off. Very funny. Nearly cost me a Sunday afternoon service call, and I'm real glad I decided to sit down and use the phone next to my chair rather than the phone on the wall--otherwise I wouldn't have caught it. Grrr. Nothing else appears to have been tampered with.

And now...on with the iconage. First, I'd like to point everyone at my new default icon, which I'm pretty pleased with. This little snippet of video is the first time I've tried to animate something to make it look like a movie, and I think it came out pretty well. And the red made it come out even freakier. LOL

People outside of your house have access to your circuit breakers? Total strangers can come off the street, walk over and throw your circuit breakers? Whose stupid idea was this?

I think a padlock is called for here. I know they're covered by an access door with a hasp.

Apparently so. And yes, I think a lock is in order. I have no idea who decided that putting the circuit breakers on the OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE was a good idea. They had to come through the fence to do it, but we don't have a lock on that either...plus I think they may have hopped the fence rather than actually going through the gate, just because that gate is a bee-yotch to latch, and it was latched. *mumbles*

How are your circuit breakers doing?

They're just fine since we padlocked the breaker box. That was sure a weird deal, though...
