I'm to the point now where I might be seeing a light at the end of this tunnel--although I realized this morning that something my Writing Buddy and I discussed yesterday really won't work because my villain thinks it's pretty much over and has no reason to hunt down this other character.

Except, I just realized, that character is a loose end the villain might not want lying around.

Hm.
