So, I have some filing to do. *eyes stack* Lots of filing to do, actually.

I need to query on a couple of stories that have been out way too long with no response. One's been out since May, the other since July. I've already queried once on the one that's been out since July with no response. I don't know if Gmail is eating them or if they're just that disorganized, but I will leave an alternate email to contact me with just in case.

I need to poke a certain publisher about one of my stories after I read the contract again. Honestly, I'm about ready to let them out of it, because I'm not sure they actually know what to do with it. They are a novel publisher and maybe I don't want to be the short story author they learn on, you know? I am pretty sure that story can find a home elsewhere. Of course, I say that about all my stories.

I have five stories languishing on my hard drive that I need to put on editors' desks. This means writing the titles down, seeing where each of them can go, and deciding where to send them.

The writer's life does not consist solely of pounding out words. Would that it were so and all this crap would take care of itself...

Not only that, but I still do need to pound out some words today.

According to my records (both my spreadsheet and the Submission Grinder), I sent a story to a publication back in July of last year. According (again) to both those records, I queried them on December 18.

I cannot find anything in my email indicating that I ever did either thing.

So. I think I'm going to put this down to cranial flatulence, decide I never sent it there at all, and send it someplace else (assuming I can find a place because long story is long).

So much headdesking right now.

In other news, I subbed three of the five stories lying fallow on my hard drive, decided a fourth can wait until I get a response back from Tor on the one they have right now, and have just about run out of markets on the fifth. CURSE YOU, NOVELLAS.

I still need to query the other market on the story they've had since May, and do my filing.
