But, you know, we all knew this already anyway, right?
Seriously, how does this make any sense? They rushed through some hysterical anti-gun legislation a couple of months ago that limited gun magazines to seven rounds. They also forgot to exempt police departments from this. Oh, but Hollywood gets a pass.
Then they realize: WHOOPSIE. No one actually manufactures seven-round magazines for most of the common handguns out there. So, in their brilliance, they're proposing
this idiocy:
As a result, he said, he and legislative leaders were negotiating language that would continue to allow the sale of magazines holding up to 10 rounds, but still forbid New Yorkers from loading more than 7 rounds into those magazines.
Right. Because someone bent on shooting up a school will go "Oh, damn, I'll be breaking the law if I load more than seven rounds in my mags! I'd better not do that!"
What planet do these people live on? Is it Earth? I don't think it's Earth. What the hell is the thinking here? Hamstring law-abiding citizens while criminals (who, by definition,
break the law, duh) have free rein. Yes, that's awesome, let's do that. I am very, very glad I live in Utah, where we actually have this thing called "common sense." (Most of the time, anyway, and definitely when it comes to comes to guns.) And our teachers are permitted to be armed in the classroom.
